How-To Root Your Sprint HTC Hero using a Mac
- Are you sure its storing to the internal memory? What ROM are you using? Typical Apps2SD only moves part of the app the SD card. Others can stick more of the info on there (at a risk of reduced sd card life). If you are just rooted and no new ROM is flashed, then you aren't using apps2sd, its built into some ROMs05-26-2010 02:05 AMLike 0
- I'm having problems after connecting device (not mounting, just Charge Mode only), it finds it, but I can not do the push asroot2 command. I get the following:
ts-macbook-pro:~ T$ cd /users/T/android-sdk-mac_86/tools
ts-macbook-pro:tools T$ ./adb devices
List of devices attached
HT02BHF09501 device
ts-macbook-pro:tools T$ ./adb push asroot2 /data/local/
cannot stat 'asroot2': No such file or directory
I already have the stock Sprint 2.1 installed, but it's not rooted. My 2.0 was rooted. Ideas? Thanks!06-09-2010 12:22 PMLike 0 - I'm having problems after connecting device (not mounting, just Charge Mode only), it finds it, but I can not do the push asroot2 command. I get the following:

I keep getting "Bus Error" when issuing ADB commands and have no access to the phone. This issue recently came up after a month or two of not using ADB.
Everything worked fine with 1.5. Now that I have been using Rooted 2.1 ROMS (currently Damage) I am unable to use commands.
Anyone know what "Bus Error" means and how to correct it? (I have uninstalled and reinstalled the SDK to no avail)
Thanks in advance.06-19-2010 07:42 PMLike 0 -

Otherwise I would double check ot make sure you have downloaded asroot2 and placed it in the /sdk/tools folder.06-23-2010 04:29 PMLike 0 - I do not have the 2.1 installed on my phone. but I do want it.
should I root it then install 2.1 or should I install 2.1 then root my phone?
the main things I want are to tether for wireless and have 2.1.
and your right i never placed the asroot2 in the /sdk/tools folder.
p.s. I'm new to this so I'm most likely going to be asking a lot of stupid questions with easy fixes.

thanks06-23-2010 05:13 PMLike 0 - alright after the first problem everything went fine until last step where I put the code
reboot recovery
now my phone is stuck at the htc screen when you turn on your phone.
I think I remember reading that it does take a while. but how long should I wait on this screen before I take out the battery?06-23-2010 05:22 PMLike 0 - alright after the first problem everything went fine until last step where I put the code

- if i start at step 8 it says device not found.
so I started all the way over and now I'm stuck at the htc screen again.06-23-2010 06:23 PMLike 0 -

- No prob, grab the newer recovery from the post. Then just edit your commands so that it says 1.6.2.If your not a member i can download and upload it for you if need be.
