HTC Hero update to 2.2

Anyone know if Hero will get the update to 2.2 Froyo?

I doubt there would be an official 2.2 release considering 2.1 was just made available. I'd expect there to be a 2.2 port sometime in the near future that could be usable on a day to day basis; although not fully functional.

By the end of June is the official word, nothing more specific. I'm waiting for it too, but seeing how many bugs there are in the CDMA version, I'll wait until more adventurous souls try it out, to see if it's any good. That way if I need to, I can root my 1.5 and go with something custom if necessary. I waited this long, I can last a few more weeks. HTC already gambled my trust away...

Since the hardware is different i think there will need to be a custom kernel to accomplish that. i highly doubt we would get an official update but the devs will probably be able to hook us up.

I would like 2.2 Froyo, I have 2.1 stock right now, but will switch to custom once there is a 2.2 that's tested and proven. Some tests have shown Froyo 600% faster than 2.1...that's huge. I hope that comes out soon.

And yes, I totally doubt there will be a 2.2 stock ever available.
