Ring Tone Question/Issue

I have downloaded some ring tones on my phone (HTC HERO) and I was able to use those ringstones for my alarm clock and my text messages. They are still on my phone, but no longer show up on my text message notification list or on the list of available alarms sounds. I guess my question is why can I no longer use these ringtones and how do I get them back?

Get a file explorer such as astro, go to the root directory and go system > media > audio. There should be 4 folders there, alarms, notifications, ringtones, and ui. If not, just create the folder with that exact name, with the "s" on the end. Just move your sound file to whatever folder you want to use it for, reboot, and it should show up.
