Ive read several times that the Hero's current firmware is 2.7, but when i checked my own hero (on sprint, purchased last friday), i noticed that i have firmware 1.5. After further investigation, it looks like the European Hero is running 2.7. Anyone know the difference between sprint's 1.5 and the Euro's 2.7? If one was feeling adventurous, would 2.7 work on sprints (i actually assume not because i further assume the european hero is gsm, but i dont know for sure)?
Ok, so it looks like the firmware 1.5 refers to the android build, where the kernel version for the cdma hero is 2.6. I assume the 2.7 firmware people are referring to is for the euro kernel....
I have question on the firmware. I'm thinking of getting a hero and switching from verizon to sprint. I hear that the the version of android on the hero is 1.5 and verizon is going to be getting the motorola droid/sholes witch is running android 2.0? Does anyone know if there is a big difference? Will the hero be upgradeable to that ? That wouldn't be the only reason i was thinking of switching the plans on sprint are so much cheaper. Should i stay with verizon for the motorola droid? This is going to be my first android phone so i want to make it a good one.
A. If your a firmware version ***** (for lack of better terms) wait for the droid on Verizon because it's launching with eclair
B. If you more into functionality/useability of the phone, right now HTC Sense is the cream of the crop and Sprint is the only U.S. carier offering it.
