Issue with importing contacts from SIM

Hello All -

Please bare with me it is my first Android device here! Just got a mytouch 4g and i've tried to import contacts directly from the SIM, but it is doing something strange with the formatting...

For example I may have had someone named Aunt Shirley previously, and now it looks something like: "Aunt/2"

Or maybe a John Doe and now it looks something like "Doe;John/" for example. Also lots of the longer names are getting truncated now.

Anyway to get it to import from Sim without all the funky formatting issue?

Previous phone was not a smart phone, so can't export contacts or anything like that.

The formatting of your previous phone might not be compatible. I've seen it specifically with motorola phones.

Your best bet would be to se if a t-mo store will use their machine to do it.
