The One A9 is my first unlocked, non subsidised phone. I put my AT&T T sim in it and have been cruising along nicely.

Today I received my first voicemail and realized that I have no visual voicemail app. My previous AT&T branded One M8 used the carrier's app, of course.

So, what do you use? What works? Thanks!

Thanks for the help and replies! If others are following this thread, I can confirm the AT&T voicemail app linked above by Laura installs and works well on my US unlocked One A9!

I have also been looking into Google Voice as suggested.

Question to Google Voice users: Have any of you used your mobile number for GV? In all the setup tutorials I've read and watched, it seems they recommend getting a new GV number. I understand the logic for this for some scenarios. However, if one wanted to use GV as a visual voicemail replacement (and not use a carrier's VVM app) wouldn't you need to use your mobile number as your GV number? If one did use your "legacy" mobile number, can you go backwards and delete the GV "relationship" at a later time? Or is it a one-way transaction?

I just started using my A9 but can't get the VVM to load. It is the same one Laura linked to. When I go to the Play store it doesn't show up. When I go to the link on my computer the drop down menu for devices says "This item is not compatible with your device". Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I should also note that this is an unlocked version that was purchased directly from HTC.

I talked with AT&T today and the newer phones all come pre-loaded with software from AT&T and VMM is one of them. Their only suggestion was to use a 3rd party app.

    UPDATE:
AT&T Messages on play store has VMM similar to the older AT&T Visual Voicemail app. The main difference is that it groups text messages in the app and forces you to use it as the default messaging app. Will be testing it out to see I like it or not.

Were you able to find any other good app?

I too purchased unlocked HTC One A9 from HTC and using it on ATT network. Tried all the voice mail apps that google play store suggests, but none works. I had iPhone in the past so never had this problem. I used AT&T Messages, InstaVoice, Visual Voicemail Plus, AT&T Voicemail Viewer but no use.

Any other suggestions for good voicemail app that works on unlocked HTC One A9?

    Thanks in advance.

I haven't found a suitable replacement. I wish the old AT&T Visual Voicemail app worked on this phone since I only want it for voicemail, not text messages. For now I'm just using the archaic dial in system. Luckily voice messages are few and far between.

Odd, I have an unlocked A9 purchased direct from HTC on AT&T and I had no problem downloading and am using their visual voicemail app without issue.

I use the AT&T Visual Voicemail app on my OnePlus One with absolutely no issues also. I'm not sure why the OP has trouble with it...

    Hi megatomic,

We are not talking about OnePlus One Phone on this forum. The problem here is on HTC One A9.

    Thanks,

My AT&T A9 arrives tomorrow and I'm sure Visual Voicemail will be pre-installed and working properly, but I was relating my current experience of using an unlocked phone on AT&T and the Visual Voicemail app working fine as such.

Well, I've just gotten done eating some tasty crow. AT&T Visual Voicemail is not compatible with my AT&T variant of the HTC One A9 as per the Play Store. And I dislike having to use the HTC Messages app to check my voicemails, I use Google Messenger. What to do?

I too purchased A9 unlocked directly from htc. I was using Google Voice with my Nexus 5 & it worked just fine. I just finished setting it up on A9, but haven't had a chance to test it yet. I'll report back.
