Unintended consequence of HTC naming decision - this forum is for the HTC One (M7)

Due to the name "HTC One" there is confusion all over the internet for shoppers and knowledge seekers, starting here on Android Central. There are multiple posts and threads for One X, One S, etc. in the One forums. Those posts do not belong here. Also, when shopping for cases and accessories on sites searching for HTC One brings many results for the 2012 One variants (some sites thankfully work if you search for M7).

The naming is pretty confusing. I understand why they stuck with the 'One' brand considering they put some marketing dollars already into it from last years models, promoting the 'One' series. But it really conflicts with the models of last year and creates difficulties creating proper sequels. Only real way around it is to constantly push what year the model promoted, or in your case, compatible accessories or support. In surprised to not see the HTC One not labled everywhere like so: HTC ONE (2013 Model).

Not the greatest solution, but its probably wiser than back tracking and pouring money into yet another brand. Personally, I really like the 'One' name -- it just feels like a one-hit wonder rather than a continuous company flagship.

This is basic marketing and so many big companies just don't get it. It's even worse with some of the companies in home theater gear, everything there is a series of unintelligible letters and numbers with no apparent incrementing or product line differentiation. This isn't difficult stuff really, but when it isn't done right the impact is significant.
