Who do you guys go to to insure your phones? I usually go and buy my phones thru best buy mobile and buy their insurance. I cant stand asurion. Does anyone here refuse to buy insurance on their phone? And if so what do you usually do if the phone breaks?

Right now I have a GS3 in perfect condition that I can use if anything happens to my current phone...that's my insurance.

I bought insurance initially when I bought my phone at T-Mobile but I was told it was $8 a month with a $100 deductible. Asurion sent me a letter informing me my insurance plan was wrong and instead was $12 a month with a $175 deductible. I cancelled my insurance and bought an Otterbox Defender case. If my phone breaks I'll be out of luck.

The new Jump plans looks pretty good. Pay $10 a month and after six months you can trade your phone in and get a new phone. Also, insurance is included in that $10 a month. I just wonder how much the deductible is.

Sprint wanted $12 a month for a warranty plan. I bought a SquareTrade 2 year plan for $125 which is 50% of that. I've used them before for Ipods and the like and they always have been easy to work with.

Here in Canada we have 3 year contracts (which is in the process of maybe changing) and with my provider (Bell) insurance works out to 36*7$=252, plus the cost of deductible which they say is between 100$ and 150$ depending on the phone, so between 350$ and 400$. For iphones and "premium smartphones" (which I imagine my One falls under) that goes up to 10$ a month and 250$ deductible, which is over 600$. Either way it's hard to justify the math unless you fully loose 2 phones, since I just broke the screen on my One and it's going to cost 225$ to fix it. Still a lot of money, but not nearly as much as the cost of the insurance.

I always recommend insurance to my friends.... Unless it has a deductible. There are SO many options out there without deductible that there is no reason to have a plan with a deductible.

Best Buy's is good. And it's convenient because they have so many stores. However, there are other options. Not as convenient, but options nonetheless.

Why do people always complain about the insurance deductable. Your paying $175 for a brand new phone that should be costing you $650. I think that's fair who cares about the $10 bucks a month they charge to be in the program

I have SquareTrade through Costco, which was the best deal for me. Covers it 2 years for manufactures defects, with 4x accidental damage @ $25 deductible each time + 1 time of replacement for free if battery issue. Plan cost: $99 for the 2 years with no tax.

I opted for a SquareTrade 2 year warranty with accidental damage (drops, water, dies, etc). Here is a 30% discount code 1MS0YGBX003 good for today July 26th, after today is worth 20% off until 7/29. Please note they only allow a Max $30 discount.

I get these about every few days so enjoy.

HalizDad, I remember seeing you posting in the Verizon SG3 forums. How do you like the One so far? Which carrier did you switch to?
