HTC One killing USB cables?

Ohk, so I have a weird problem here.

Since yesterday, my One stopped charging on its regular cable. I tried it on two HTC cables, one Sony cable and two Samsung cables.

It only charges when using the Samsung cables, and on any charger. All the cables charge my Xperia S, and my flatmates Samsung. We can swap them all out all good. But the One will only charge with the Samsung cables. Does anyone have any idea what is going on here?

Same result when connecting to Laptop.

The only thing I can see as maybe a problem, is that I notice the Samsung contacts seem to be larger/thicker as the other cables. Maybe the HTC is bent and therefore can only work with the longer contacts?

It may be something to do with the charging port in the phone as well.
