I never use the spell check feature. It has been turned off since day one. Now all of a sudden it gives me the suggested letters/words as I'm typing. I have searched every setting and can't find anything other than the spell check feature and it is off.
Am I missing something?
It also now does the short vibrate when I press a key. I have that feature off as well.

Which keyboard are you using and which version of Android? What you are describing is not spell check - it is suggested word correction aka predictive text. I am not familiar with the HTC, but in the Google Keyboard and others you can turn that off in the settings and it is separate from turning spellcheck on or off.

If you are turning things off but they are staying on, try settings-storage-cache, then a restart of your phone.

HA found it. While looking for the keyboard type, I looked deeper under the keyboard style. Somehow it was checked.
Thanks for the tip.
