Are you able to get a shot of your cute doggy on the move? Trying to see if the M8 would catch my kids without blur

he's moving in these. These indoor artificial light shots come about about the same as my 5s. At least on the phone screen.

Re: Share your HTC One (M8) photos, videos, and camera thoughts!

Here are several pics I took throughout the day..
1: Cloudy through a dirty window
2: Macro, closest I could get in focus range
3: Frt yard, dusk, not very bright out.
4: Only light source is the keyboard
5: Focused on the middle hen.
6: Rezound (No Flash)
7: Rezound (w/Flash)
Hopefully tomorrow will be a sunny day and I can really test it out.

Took these this morning, just point and shot real fast. No comparison with cameras as far as the Moto X is concerned. The M8 is miles ahead of the Moto X. I was doing some comparisons with my 5S this morning and to tell you the truth the M8 was better more times than not. I am impressed with the pictures that my M8 is taking. Very pleased with my M8.

Note the White Balance:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/phonewisdom/13409888884

Those Highlights (All Blown out):
https://www.flickr.com/photos/phonewisdom/13409646433

Like the M7, the phone struggles when there is any bright light shining in the view:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/phonewisdom/13409625893

And don't count on HDR saving the day:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/phonewisdom/13409623473

This also happens at night time with heavy street lights, etc. The whole pictures gets blown out by the lights.
EDIT: Oh, I found an example: https://www.flickr.com/photos/phonewisdom/13409779004

Other examples of the issue:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/phonewisdom/13409468353 (this one also shows some motion blur, the person is just walking)
https://www.flickr.com/photos/phonewisdom/13409374895 (this one may be filtered, but the blown out lit areas are evident still)

The lack of detail is evident in those Flickr Photos. The user who uploading them allow downloading of the Original files, so this is easy to see on any computer monitor.

There is also some focusing issues in some pictures (the picture of the seagull is borderline unusable, for example, and a few of the flower pictures are dubious at best for focusing).

The greens on the trees in this photos are oversaturated, iPhone style:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/phonewisdom/13409492313

I have to say, I love Flickr's new photo viewing interface. Wow, it's much better than it used to be. Too bad they require a Yahoo! ID/Phone Number to create an account :p

Credit goes to Brad Molen, who owns the photos and has gracefully put them on Flickr for our consumption.

Re: Share your HTC One (M8) photos, videos, and camera thoughts!

I know you're trying hard to discredit the phone, maybe to justify not purchasing it, but the above statement misses the fact that the leaves you're pointing out are not in the focal point. Look how they become more blurred, the closer they are to the cam (upper-left). Had he tapped the upper-left corner the cam would have focused on those leaves and left the center field would lose focus. These are basic photographic principles, not a flaw in the M8.

You seem to thrive on getting the last word in so I'll let you have at it but might I suggest finding something more productive to do than spending hours engaging in an anti-M8 campaign?

Crop Taken from one of the Flickr Photos (from the Original Photo), then saved to PNG to prevent compression loss. It's from the center of the photo, which should be the focal point:

The camera simply does not capture detail well at all. It's 4.1 MP, it's kind of hard to pin that on someone desperate to discredit the camera. HTC did that when they decided to use that resolution, all by themselves.

Anyone looking for pictures at the moment should visit that Flickr page. There are some decent shots there and he seems to take the camera though its paces pretty well! (Indoors, Outdoors, Front/Back Camera, Low Light, Natural Light, Overcast Conditions, etc.).

Re: Share your HTC One (M8) photos and videos!

They might have had a 2+ year deal with that particular camera manufacturer and now they are stuck. I am sure they have gotten enough backlash about their camera vs. others to the point that they realize a change needs to be made. This time around that change was the focal sensor, hopefully the next One will be a 6+Mp beast. I really am shocked that they didnt increase the MP count to at least 6 this time around. This one area was not a deterrent in me getting the M8 from the M7 because it is just a work of art and the specs are just crazy good.. not to mention the wicked battery life.

Picture I took out in the country. I was driving about 35mph, pulled up the camera and clicked. Super fast focus on this phone.
