HTC One (M8): VLC can't detect my external SD card files

Internal reads 100% fine.
However, when I go into preferences, I see only internal memory and an option to add a custom path.
When I go into directories, I see ext_sd. I tap into it, and I see nothing. Even though, MX player and other programs can view these files perfectly. I've already tried adding custom paths, but nothing works.
Help?

Is the SD card transferred from another device? If so the file structure might be incompatible. I would copy whatever is important to a pc and then reformat to SD card on the phone.

You could set your root directory in vlc preferences to /mnt instead of /sdcard
and it should index any mounted media you have. !!!!

it works

Hello,

I'm having this same problem after the update for Android Lollipop. It seems the solution you suggested didn't work in my case, or I was unable to effectively set it.

I made the only foud the following path to change the local directory: Preferences->Advanced->Set locale->"/mnt"->Press OK. Is that the same as setting the root directory?

Thanks!

Igoriano

Typing /mnt
