Do 3rd party apps or apps in the the play store slow down the M8?

Apps like swiftkey or external browsers such as Firefox, opera or dolphin. Does adding lots of apps slow the phone down?

I use the stock keyboard/internet because it feels like the stock ones are faster. Maybe my judgement is flawed.

Some apps certainly so, though maybe not the ones you mentioned.

If an app takes up a lot of ram or operates in the background all of the time, it is using resources you might not want it to.

Check power used and data used to assess apps.... You can do this under settings / power and settings / data usage.

It really depends on the app and how it's developed. A good app that is not heavy on resources when it doesn't have to be won't.
