    You mean that emoticons are judged to be images, and that an SMS is therefore sent as an MMS, costing more?

    I don't think so. I think its an OS conversion from characters to an image. Its not like you send a picture every time.

    Thanks to Golfdriver97. Some devices are known to do this, at least on the Vodafone UK network, but it was unclear to me whether the M8 was such a device, not having one myself.
