Changing the lock screen app shortcuts without using blinkfeed?

I use Google Now Launcher. It's great, accept for the fact that on my HTC One M8, I need to use BlinkFeed to change the lock screen app shortcuts. For some reason, on my M8 I can't seem to clear defaults and temporarily change my launcher to blinkfeed, since when I go to clear defaults for Google Now Launcher it says no defaults set, and clearing them anyways doesn't do anything.

Go to settings / personalise / home screen. Change to blinkfeed then change the shortcuts to whatever u want them to be (they match the icons at the bottom in the dock). Then change back to google now launcher via settings again
