HTC M8 factory reset nightmare, who can wake me up?

HTC M8 factory reset nightmare

Hey everyone,

I backed up my AT&T HTC M8 on Lollipop with HTC Sync Manager. I did a factory reset on the phone, and plugged it back into the computer after and it says "phone connected (loading data)" for about one minute before displaying the message "Device unavailable. Please reconnect your device. [4]"

Any suggestions?

Did you connect the phone to the computer right after the reset or did you set up the phone first?

I tried it both ways, and got the same result each time.
