The ROM has nothing to do with the SIM card. Does your phone support the SIM card and does your phone support the ROM? (Putting the wrong ROM into a phone can brick it, because the hardware may be different than the hardware the ROM was written for.)

If the phone supported that SIM card before you updated the phone, and the phone still works after you updated it, the SIM card should still work. (If it asks you for the unlock code, you'll have to go to eBay and look for unlock code sellers.)
