Htc m8 won't update

[AC Question]

Hey i boughy a verizone wireless htc m8 phone and i use a different sim on it. Now i want to update my software but the phone doesn't even give me the option to update d tab for check for updates is dull and the phone is working on and android 5.0 and a sense 6.0 version help pls... Plus i also can't use my mobile hotspot as it tells me no verizon sim detected

Welcome to Android Central! A carrier-specific phone usually has to be on that carrier's network in order to receive official system updates over the air. The hotspot is also carrier-specific, so you won't be able to use it on a different network.
