I'm new here but not new to Mobile Nations. I am the new owner of a M9 and having a blast.

I was a dedicated BB buyer, not a fanboy, but I have had my share of BB phones and tablets.
The later started my withdraw from and concern for where BB was heading.
I loved the security and yes the build quality.
I like BB10, but it lacks the apps. It lacks the customization abilities. It lacks fun.

I am a storm chaser so I need a great group of weather apps etc.to stay ahead of the game.
While the BB did the communications end, 2nd to none, it really blew chunks in the weather app area.

Then Chen took over BB and the consumer was dropped in favor Chens ideas.

Thus I entered the world of "Droid".

My kids and wife have had them so I do know the OS to some extent. I researched and liked what I saw in the HTC One line.
The M8 almost got me to jump off the BB band wagon, but the camera was not to my liking.

Out comes the new M9. So I took the chance and ordered the thing a 2:10 am CDT the day the pre-orders were launched.
First time I ever did that!

So far the transition has been mostly completed. The M9 looks like my old Z10 as far as my wallpapers and organization. I use folders
    to keep things orderly.

I like the speed. I like Sense 7. Fluid and no stutter.
The build quality is good. Well done.
    Sound is fantastic.
Size is good. Took me some time to get used to it coming from a smaller phone.
Screen I like. Sharp and true.
Apps Apps Apps Apps and even more App. Cool!
Browser works fine. But hate how the bookmarks are handled. BB has them on that.
Battery life is much better then I was getting with the BB Z10. So no complaints, yet.
Feels good in the hand. Not to heavy and not to slick.
Setting up my VPN was a breeze with more options then the BB had.
BB has a great keyboard on the Z10 but I like my new Swift keyboard better.

I don't like that the calendar as it does not have "2 weeks" in the repeat choices. Older Droid versions did. BB has them on this.
I miss the hub. BB has them on this big time, but BB will be releasing it for Droid and IOS. So I just have to wait a little while.

I don't like the USB port on
the bottom and that it's up side down.
I don't like the power button on the side. Put if back on top. BB has them on this.
Encryption stinks. Can't undo it once you encrypt the data. BB kills them on this. Low level encryption as well on the Droid. Area in need of major work.
Doesn't go onto the Verizon Network Extender sometimes. I have to turn on and off airplane mode to get it to link sometimes.

Sounds are not consistent. Sometimes Blinkfeed makes a sound when I refresh and sometimes not.
Notifications are greatly lacking. BB kills them on this. Need to be able to add/change/customize them more. Major area in need of work.

Camera is good in most conditions but still needs some software tweaking.

So far so good. I am enjoying the M9.

I still have the Z10 as a backup. But for now the M9 is my primary phone. Cool!

Cool review...thanks. Enjoyed the level of detail!

Former BB user myself. My biggest wish for Android is that someone would come up with an App to mimic the Hub. The Hub is absolutely brilliant...one spot to get all emails, texts, Facebook messages, Twitter, etc. Best management system in the world.

Many people complain about the calendars available for Android.

You're fighting a tremendous head wind. Android users are all used to a bottom connector and a power button at or near the top.

Encryption stinks. Can't undo it once you encrypt the data.
Yep. But reversible encryption isn't as secure, and Google is bowing to corporate pressure.

The Verizon extender is really the Samsung network extender and ... well, let's just say it's not the best thing they ever designed.

Notifications are greatly lacking. BB kills them on this. Need to be able to add/change/customize them more.
Each app can set up notifications any way it wants. It's really up to the app developers. I have one "you have a free app waiting" kind of notification for the Play Store and a different one for Amazon.

Camera is good in most conditions but still needs some software tweaking.
A Better Camera blows most stock camera apps away, and it's not much (because it doesn't take much to be a lot better than the stock apps).

I agree with most but the encryption part. BB is much stronger. Thats why BB is OK for the military while Droid is not. But then that is BB specialty. That's why Samsung is working with BB now as well.

I hope the camera improves. It has already.

The BB Hub is coming to Android later this year.

I'm also a BB10 convert as well. Along with the Hub, I also miss Bedside Mode. That needs to be integrated in as well. They have the Interruptions settings, but it's very rigid as I have to select a time when I don't want Notification sounds. I have it set to 10PM, but what if I stay out late? I would rather just be able to pull down the shade when I go to bed.

Whenever I think about Blackberry, I have fond memories of my Bold 9630. I miss the physical keyboard. The Blackberry Classic almost had me based on nostalgia, but I couldn't deal with a complete lack of native apps.

    Still loving my M8, though.

I just went to a OnePlus One from a BB Z10. It has not been a smooth transition for me. This is my first Android phone and I just find it so much more time consuming to use. I've tried several "Hub" like apps so far and none of them are convenient or reliably notify me of every incoming email or message the way the BB Hub did. Can't wait for the proper BB hub to come to Android. i hate the button on the side setup, can never find it when I am driving and just want to click it on real quick to see who a song is by or whatever. Also using multiple apps at once is much easier on BB, with the large Icons showing what is running and you can exit, expand, or close each app with just a touch. Like I said though, I'm a first time Android user and maybe I am just not utilizing it to it's potential. Oh, and havn't found a browser that holds a candle to the BB browser. So simple, tabs so easy to scroll through, never an ad......I really miss it. If anyone has found comparable browser and hub-like apps I would really appreciate some suggestions.

And I guess I should admit that everything else about this phone blows my Z10 away. It's simply not as productive or instinctive of an OS though. Feels more like I'm using my tablet with windows eight than a phone.
