I'm having trouble streaming music/media from my M9 5.0.2 to the car via Bluetooth. I can connect and use the phone just fine. The "media player" will only connect for 2-3 seconds and then drop the connection. I've tried to unpair and pair. I've tried deleting the phone from the car system and reconnecting. I've tried connecting using HTC Connect to pair. I've deleted the Bluetooth app cache and data then restarted the phone. I even disconnected the battery on my car reseting all the cars' data. I've tried all these things in multiple combinations and multiple times. Same result, drops the connection after 2-3 seconds. My previous phone (HTC DNA) had no issues connecting and streaming music. Pretty frustrating. Any help, thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome to Android Central! Are there any other Bluetooth devices in the car that might be competing? Like a Bluetooth headset?

Could the "phone" be with competing with the "media player" some way, some how? Some sort of software bug?

No, it shouldn't be. Bluetooth has separate profiles for Phone Audio and Media Audio.

No idea if Toyota is like Ford, but you need to update your car to work with the latest bluetooth version.

Check your owners manual... With Ford, you use a thumb drive

Had some time today and got this sorted out. I cleared all Bluetooth settings on the phone. Disconnected the car battery for 10 min. Connected the battery. Set all car Bluetooth settings to "default" and another tab that said "register device". Used HTC Connect to pair. It paired right away, and is not dropping the connection. working like a charm now!
Thanks for all your help and suggestions

I had this same issue, since I bought my car second hand and it had a bunch of devices in the list. After I cleared it, it worked fine.

I had the same problem with my Honda. I paired my phone just fine, but then it would repeatedly connect and disconnect. I finally figured out a solution, though not ideal. In the Bluetooth connection for the Honda HandsFreeLink on your phone, uncheck the box that gives Honda access to contacts and messages. This leaves phone and media checked. My phone now stays connected all the time.

I'm not technical, but I'm guessing that there is some sort of electronic hand shake that is not happening properly when the car is trying to connect to the other services. That causes the phone to power off and back on its Bluetooth radio and thus cause the continuous disconnect/connect cycles.
