Google Play Movies playback issue

It's been a couple months since I first noticed the issue, so it's not been a priority to try and fix, but I was wondering if anyone else had come across it. I cannot play anything I've purchased through the Google Play Movies store on my HTC One M9. Every time I try, I get an error that it couldn't fetch license (error 5000). I've cleared the cache, uninstalled all updates, and done a factory reset on my phone... No luck. Everything I've purchased still plays when I use my Nexus 9 or through the web browser on my computer.

Any help would be appreciated!

I have been having the same issues since the beginning of August 2016. I have an HTC One m9 and have reached out to HTC. They walked me through a variety of cache clearing processes as well as resets, and finally told me that it was a problem with Google services. I've talked to two different Google representatives, who also had me try several different methods of cache and data clearing as well as a total factory reset of my phone. I've reset my router a half a dozen times. Eventually the second rep told me that she would have to escalate it to a specialist of some kind. A couple of days later I got an email from this "specialist" and he is running me through the same gauntlet of syncing methods and cache clearing methods. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA HOW THIS ERROR IS OCCURRING? I can stream movies from my account on other devices... Prior to August, my phone was able to stream and download movies as well. Very frustrating...
