Can you still run launchers if you're rooted? I'm running buzz launcher right now and I like it a lot but I want to root for several reasons. Is it possible?

Rooting should have no effect on running a different launcher.

Exactly, Sense would run in the background using resources.

I've noticed using nova without sense frees up around 500 or More MBs of ram.

If I root will the ir blaster still work, if it matters I use squid not the HTC TV app

The TV app should work completely fine ? same with all the other HTC features. The only way it should stop working is if you flash an AOSP ROM like CyanogenMod or AOKP since those don't support the IR sensor.
