Should I root my One X?

I've had my One X (2012) for about a year now and it is still Android 4.1. This is my first Android phone so I'm kind of a noob but I think I can do it. Anyways, I don't know if there's a manual way of updating but if I can please let me know. I have the At&t version too. If I need to root can someone link a tutorial on how to do it please? Thanks

You should be asking this in the One X section, this is the HTC One section. However, I have the One X and I must say that rooting makes it perform better if you know what you're doing and know exactly which applications to use in order to get the best performance and battery life (kernel, greenify, etc.).
