HTC One: hboot 1.56 s off after 4.4.2 ota

So I searched around and I can't find anything helpful. I did the 4.4.2 ota from AT&T and it updated HBOOT to 1.56. I then decided to root and install a custom rom but I'm having a problem getting s-off. Can I just flash a different h boot version cause I can't find anything that works with 1.56. Getting irritated because I want a GPE ROM but they all require s off. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

First I tried rumrunner and it stopped at the skunky rum part and didn't get past that. So i waited 30 minutes and nothing else happened. I then tried the all in one kit and it didn't work and I also read that revone won't work with this version. I read the same about rumrunner.

Ok, I was about to link a thread to you, but it doesn't seem to be workings with 1.5.6
And it's seems that other s-off threads are having issues with 1.5.6
I've tried exactly what you have with my 1.5.5 and for the same results. Still looking for an answer. When I find one, I'll link it to you.

I'd appreciate it cause I've been at this for a few days now. I have everything done except the s off and in currently on a ROM that I don't care for. The rumrunner website has the different hboot' that you can flag but I don't know if it would brick my phone if I flashed the compatible hboot or if it would even work.

Just curious, why do you want s-off?
Also, have you looked at ViperOne ROM? I HAVE BEEN ON THEIR ROM since 2007

I'm trying to get it off so I can use the stock type ROMs. The one in particular is the HD revolution 6.1. I want one that is pretty much a nexus style vanilla ROM. I'm not big on the addons that CM and all the others use because they always have the small bugs that drive new nuts haha. How is the viper ROM?

[KERNEL] [Jan 31] ElementalX 13.0 11.4 10.10.1 8.4 - xda-developers

If you decide to use the ViperOne ROM, make a nandroid of your phone then flash Viper with a full wipe. then flash teh ElementalX kernel. After the phone fully boots up, reboot it again. Then make a nandroid of this and then try going s-off.

OK, sense has gotten a h&ll of a lot better. For years I would never use Sense cuz it was such a RAM and data hog

The viperone says I need TWRP but I'm using CWM. I tried to install twrp from the twrp app and from the goo.im. menu and both said there are no recoveries available for my phone. It said the (M7 UL) will it work with cwm or am I in a pickle. (I should have the M7ATT not the UL)

The m7 att also uses the international Roms, recoveries. Let me find you a link TO DL A TWRP RECOVERY. MAKE SURE IT'S THE 2.6.3.3. ALSO, I THOUGHT VIPER WOULD WORK WITH CWM... BUT IT DOES WORK BETTER WITH TWRP. http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7

Just for anyone else wondering if ViperOne will install with CWM recovery, the answer is yes.

You'll spend a lot of time playing with all the tweaks. Take your time and I wouldn't change to much @ one time just so could remember what I changed in case I have to go back and put the adjustment back if I didn't like it.
