i am thinking of purchasing an HTC ONE V gsm phone and would like to know if it would be able to run using T-mobile's 3G network.

the band frequency specs in the product description (from amazon) says the following: GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz; HSPA/WCDMA: 3G bands are 850/1900/2100 MHz or 850/1700/2100 MHz, depending on the cellphone version.

note that regarding 3G bands there are two versions: 850/1900/2100 MHz or 850/1700/2100 MHz

taken from t-mobile website:
T-Mobile's UMTS network operates in Band IV, which uses 1700 MHz and 2100 MHz frequencies. Specifically, T-Mobile uses the 1700 MHz frequency to send information to cell sites and then uses the 2100 MHz frequency to receive information. A device must be able to use both frequencies to use T-Mobile's domestic UMTS network.
T-Mobile's GSM network operates in 850 MHz and 1900 MHz frequencies. Unlike our 3G and 4G networks, you do not need to use both bands to receive service, so if a device is only able to use 850 MHz or 1900 MHz, it can still use T-Mobile's domestic network.

it seems to me like the phone should work, assuming it is the 850/1700/2100 MHz version. however when using T-mobile's phone check tool (go to STEP 1: CHECK YOUR PHONE, click on check your phone) i enter HTC ONE V and get the reply: It appears this device is not currently in our compatibility list.

can someone please help me fully understand this and possibly verify if this phone model will work fine with T-mobile networks?

thanks!
