I am planning to root my Virgin Mobile Evo pretty soon and was wonsering, for someone who has never owned a Android phone and is still fairly new to it, is it recommended? Also is internet connection required on your PC to root the phone?

Yes! I would also unlock the bootloader and get s-off. All easy to do, fairly safe, and has great benefits. See my topic called "major root info for you" then search for guides on these. :)

I looked at the Midnight ROM and says I need s-off. An even scarier thought, don't really want to brick my phone lol.

So I'm looking at Harmonia right now and I'm wondering if my HBOOT version matters. It says HBOOT-1.57.0000. Still have S-On since the procedure on getting S-Off looks hard as hell lol.
