I already posted a question about this but it seems to have vanished into thin air and not be associated with my account or searchable on google...

    My question:

Is it possible to disable the google maps overlay that appears when you go to the home screen or switch apps?

This is the overlay I'm talking about:

I know that this overlay can be closed by swiping down on it, but I don't know how to make it stop showing up all together.

On another note... does anyone know how to increase the refresh rate of the google maps navigation? It seems to be locked at a refresh rate of 5fps... This phone can definitely handle more than that.

You can kill overlay in settings... Apps... Three dots in top right corner.. Special access... Apps that appear over...
This is galaxy S8 running Nougat, yours may be a little different...

That wasn't exactly where it is for this phone, but that helped me find it!

It is called "Picture in picture" in 8.0 and this is how to turn it on or off for all apps:

Much easier to just search for it in settings.

The OP would have started from settings. How do you mean Ray?

This is true, but I did not know it would be called "picture in picture", so I'm not sure I would have found it by searching.
