    Hi guys,

So I purchased the mate 10 Pro yesterday and have been playing around with it for a while it wondered if anyone had any tips / tricks that they use to get the most from the phone.

I did start using the home launcher but have since stuck Nova on as wanted more room on the home screen and in the app draw.

Bluetooth connectivity seems solid so far.

I do get the issue of the brightness changing between apps but it's not
annoying me too much just yet (and hopefully we'll see a fix for that in 8.1).

Usually use Google keyboard but trying SwiftKey for now.... Seems decent.

So any tips or tricks that you use please let me know.
    Thanks.

That's intentional and has been around for several Android/EMUI versions. It's unlikely that Huawei will stop doing this crap in 8.1.

My tipp: say goodbye to reliable notifications, even with massive whitelisting from Huawei's awful battery magement that's pretty much impossible to achieve.

Don't rely on the built in alarm clock, it failed on me multiple times when the phone is in DND (alarm only or important only) mode (shows a silent notification but doesn't actually sound the alarm unless you tap on it).

Alarm clock fails on me on all my devices. Not just Huawei. Including my Google Home. I always use multiple devices for my alarms to be safe.

Anyway, I recommend using Night Mode in the settings. Saves a lil bit more battery.

I also use BlackBerry keyboard. The swipe up predictions are amazing.

So far, that's all I've done with the phone.

    Cheers

The Mate 10 Pro is only my 2nd Huawei phone. The P10 I had last year was great overall once I fine tuned it to my liking. I've felt the same this time around too and over the past week or so that I've had it I've had to go work my way through any little niggles or annoyances with battery management and Notifications but I'm pretty much there now and Notifications are flawless now and the battery is getting me through an entire day which for me being a seriously heavy user is very impressive. The Note 8 I had before it was decent always needed another top up on the charger around dinner time. Like I said already, Huawei phones just need a little more fine tuning to your needs unlike most other devices where the settings are pretty much set to most users needs already. I go through way too many phones and usually switch every 3-6 months but I already feel like this could be the first phone to last me at least a year. I'm hoping it lasts me 2 years but I won't even try making that commitment right now.
As for the alarm clock, it's ok but I always switch to Google Clock on my phones because I like the various options it gives and it's never let me down

Thanks for that. Appreciate your response.

Sounds like a little investment is needed to get the most from this phone. Doesn't seem too much to ask for me.

I'll delve into the settings and have a play. It seems as though ma y people have difficulties with notifications but it's good to know it can be sorted with some perseverance!

I would turn off power intensive prompt off on my emails to get my notifications rolling thru.

Can you give some advice on how you managed to get notifications flawless?

    I'm still struggling!

    Thanks.

How do you install BlackBerry Keyboard on Mate 10? I would love to do the same.
