Weird. Settings : Google : Search (at bottom) shows this:

Then Settings (at top):

I never use Google via voice so never use "OK Google" - always text search.

Already playing. I can now control my smart home stuff by voice instead of diving into the apps. Already doing this on my Home.

Also - I had been waiting for a Play Services update. Apparently it has nothing to do with that. No Play Services update.

I just got it as well lol. So are the google "cards" gone? I kinda liked those as it told me when I needed to leave to get to an appointment on time.

No you can still use the regular Google app for your cards.

One thing I've noticed... The Google Assistant update appears to have fixed the "Enable Ok Google From Any Screen" issue which was causing Google to hijack the Mate's microphone when you'd launch apps like camera, or other apps that use the microphone. So far I've tested it with multiple apps and have yet to run into a problem.

That's a handy tip.

Only problem is (for me) it brings up the list of articles I might be interested in. Any way to make it show me the other tab with my appointments and reminders on it first?

I use it for the articles..... maybe delete your cards ?? or use GA for your appointments .
