Help transferring data to P20 Pro

Almost got my P20 Pro completely set up. Only part I'm struggling with transfering over are Text messages and Photos. I'm using a Samsung S6. Also, I'm not using Google Photos app. Just don't like it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Use SMS Backup & Restore for texts and back the photos up to Google on the S6, then set the P20 to use the same Google account and enable picture backup. (If you'd rather have everything physically on the phone, back the pictures on the S6 up to a PC, then copy them back from the PC to the P20.)

Got messages to transfer over, but only the recieved texts show up. Not the ones I've sent. Any ideas?
