Huawei p8 light photos desaturate upon viewing

With larger photos in my gallery, the thumbnail in my gallery of the image is the correct colours, but when I open the image I can see that the colours drop to a desaturate or cooler state. I've seen a fix where you would turn off adaptive display in settings to fix this but with Huawei I don't have that option to turn off. Is there something I can do to fix this

Welcome to Android Central! Does the photo itself actually desaturate, or is it just your display? So if you copy the photo to your computer (or upload it to Google Photos) and view it on a different device, does it still look desaturated?

Hello and sorry for the delayed response.

I sent it from my pc to my phone and the pc shows the correct colours. Within the gallery upon opening the image it immediately shows a larger desaturated image, then when going back the smaller thumbnail to can see that it changes back to the original color. I've tried what you suggested and uploaded it to Google and opened it from there. The desaturating is delayed enough for me to take a screen shot of the difference. It's a mild difference but enough to take away from what I'm trying display.

That's very odd. I'd suggest it was some kind of power-saving mode, but that shouldn't show up on a screenshot. Still, if the photos are displaying correctly on your PC, then we know that the photo itself isn't being altered.

Have you only tried looking at the photos on your stock Gallery app? What if you try a different gallery app on the phone, like the Google Photos app?

I've viewed it in Google photos and the thumbnail is desaturated as well as the large view. I downloaded a separate photo viewer and the result is the same.

I decided to test a upload to a social media and it seems that the image was processed at this desaturated state VS the original that was on my pc, however if I copy and transfer the file from the phone to the pc the image remains in the correct colours state. So I think I've come to the conclusion that there may be a different color palate that the software processes with on the phone, creating the effect. Still odd though.

The color difference is huge. Never seen that happened before. Since the pic look perfectly fine on the pc, it happening somewhere in the phone's process. If you haven't tried it yet, have you restarted the phone and see if anything changed?
