rooting questions & rooting 2.2

So since all the people who already have rooted can load the OTA does that in any way mean that the OTA itself can still be rooted?

I have yet to root simply for the fact that I wanted to get the official OTA and that all my applications will be deleted and that I don't want to have to wipe my SD card to load custom ROMs (am I correct in that assumption?).

However I may be looking into root after 2.2 OTA. Is it possible or is that not clear yet?

It will be possible if you root now with Unrevoked 3.1, then load Unrevoked Forever. It's hard to say what the OTA will do, but they're saying the leaked RUU might be the actual OTA. RUU can be rooted using this method, so one would guess that the OTA would as well. Hell, if you upgrade using the OTA, root could stay intact if you loaded it on 2.1 (Shadowmite said the same root exploit exists, over on XDA).

It's all speculation though until the actual OTA comes out.
