This may not work for everyone, but it did for me and a few others who tried it.
I read about this on XDA from a user named "larsrya8" posted it.

Download an app called GPS Status.
Launch app, go to menu > settings > gps & sensors > manage a-gps state.
From there, select "reset" and then once that is done, select "download".

After doing those things, my GPS issue with CM was gone!

Try it, return, and report.

Enjoy!

I will return to this post tomorrow and update everyone on how this did. I have a few errands to run so I will use the gps throughout the day for a good test.

I am stoked! I hope this fixes it for good so I can use CM6.

UPDATE:
I used GPS on my way to work, which is usually a 10-15 minute drive. GPS picked up immediately (like it should), but battery drain was quick! After about 15 minutes of navigation, my battery was at 72% from 100% ... this might be due to CM6, the kernel, GPS, not sure. Good thing I have a car charger!

wryun,

I get the same drain with Virtuous using the GPS if I'm not plugged in. Seems to be a common phenomenon regardless of the ROM.
