To change your settings:

Open WhatsApp
Go to Options > Settings > Notifications
Set the notifications to your liking
Please Note:
- The notification settings you choose will only work when the app is running in the background. When you are inside of the app, the notification sound will always be a low double beep sound.
- There is currently no way to disable popup messages.
- To fully activate your notification settings, please make sure your phone's general profile is not set to "silent".

Photo and name

Depending on your privacy configuration, your profile photo and name may be visible to anyone you chat with on WhatsApp. To set your profile photo and name:

Open WhatsApp > tap the three dots in the bottom right.
Select settings > profile.
Tap your Profile photo to take a new photo or choose from albums or to remove the profile photo.
Tap the text box under Enter your name to change the name that is visible to your contacts.
Status

The status feature in WhatsApp is a real time indication of what you are doing so that you can keep up to date with your contacts. To set your status:

Open WhatsApp > tap the three dots in the bottom right.
Select settings > profile.
Click on the pencil icon to open the status screen.
Tap the text box to write a personal status.
If you block a contact, that person will not see any updates to your profile picture and status.
