UMMM Hell NO! Dont like apple and definitely dont like AT&T. Apple thinks they know whats better for you than you do (like the government). AT&T charges way too much money for iphone users. Enough said? I will stick with Sprint first and Evo second

I think the question is WHY would you even consider it? Don't care about the limited iphone to iphone video chat or their 200k apps. The mePhone offers nothing I can't do on the droid.

Most people just like glitz and glammar. Few people know how to use the iPhone's abilities.

Ask a typical iPhone user what apps they got and chances are they don't have any!

I remember when I had a Pre and was volunteering for an event and 5 people with iPhones didn't download a counter app needed to keep tabs of incoming guests.

I asked them why they didn't and it's because they thought it costs money and one guy said he doesn't have internet!

Mind you it was at a University with FREE WIFI! Turn on your damn wifi! Pathetic!

I just can't believe that happened to me.

As what was said earlier by our esteem administrator. You should base your decision on what Carrier gives you better service where you live. Second, for me, at least, is price for service. And finally, the best phone you can get from that carrier. For me, Sprint and AT&T are pretty close in reception, but the big difference is price. For my same plan, AT&T is about $82 dollars a month more than Sprint. That is a big difference. I like the EVO, but it is more about the price and the carrier. The device comes afterwards.

Hypothetically, if the iPhone was on Sprint, it would be a tougher decision, and I would have to try out both to see which one would fit my needs. But I don't have that choice.

Re: Thinking about Canceling for Iphone 4

Well according to an article today it seems that they will not offer the phone on another carrier such as Sprint nor Verizon. Apple continues to subject its loyal followers to a network that cannot satisfy their data users. If you are going to design a game changer give the device a network it can thrive on and customers can get the greatest user experience.

Apple is Anti American! As it offers iphones on multi carriers in other countries.

What I do like is the anticipation of 2.2 froyo and beyond where the iphone is what you see is what you get for at least 6 months. I think most of us geeks love that anticipation.

I think most of us geeks love that anticipation.

That may work for us geeks, but not ordinary consumers. While we are busy anticipating away, Apple is delivering stuff people want with simplicity that average users can be productive with.

You know what I do when my HTC Hero is laggy and annoying? No problem, fire up Taskiller and kill all tasks. The other 6 people I work with? They complain about how crappy the phone is to anyone who will listen.

Oddly they don't ever say "but at least i'm not locked into an ecosystem, and can multitask and change my battery."

it looks nice, all apple products look nice, the issue i have is getting bored with it. The incredible, and android for that matter have so many cool things and i love the whole "open" idea of it. Honestly, i dont want a phone thinner then my incredible, I really dont even like how thin my incredible is without my case on it lol. Very nice looking product, but even if it did come to verizon idk if i would go with it over my incredible, or future android phones for that matter

My local news and iPhone 4G, ew.

So I was watching my local news (mind you I come from a VERY small town in Texas called Corpus Christi) and they had played a news reel from ABC news talking about the iPhone 4G and it's specs. I was just upset because they don't have a tech segment or anything. Why report on this?? So I sent them an email regarding my concern as the Android platform is a strong competitor. Here's the email I sent. (I am a Moto Droid user)

'I saw just a few moments ago on June 7, 2010 on the 10:00 pm news a report about the iPhone 4G. Understandable it was not by your station but as watching the newscast and rarely seeing any reports about new cell phones seems a little unfair to the powerful competitor Google phones powered by Android, such as the Motorola Droid. Included in the capabilities is also Sprints HTC Evo 4G with a larger screen than the iPhone and as many capabilities as the iPhone 4G. I suggest maybe starting a segment in the show to showcase such devices to help with a wide array of people choosing a phone to purchase so they are to make the right investment purchase. Yes investment as a normal consumer will not purchase a new phone every few months as many "tech geeks" do and normally do not switch cell phone companies often. I personally own the Motorola Droid and feel it is a very strong competitor with the iPhone 4G due to the Android platform running the phone. Apple is constantly attempting to put down the Android platform in attempts to make their phone look better when in actuality their "points" are fictitious with actual facts. I suggest maybe running a report on the Motorola Droid or recently the Sprints HTC Evo 4G that caused a crash in Sprints activation systems and causing a delay in customers purchasing the phone. Such as iPhone's initial release. Thank you and I do not mean this email in any disrespect as I love your newscast, I would just like to see a broader spectrum of cell phone devices if you show one. Thank you.'

What do you guys think? If they interview me for a report I'm going to mention Android Central, LoL.

*EDIT* They also showed that when the iPhone4G attempted to access WiFi during a press release showcasing the new OS it was unable to do so, they stated it was due to the building. LoL.

I can't upgrade until the end of next week, so I was curious as to whether the iPhone would jump to a different carrier and what the specs were. Frankly, I'm not impressed with what they're offering vs the Evo. I'd probably go with HTC over Apple even if both were on Sprint.

How do you figure? I mean 3.5" isn't exactly small for a phone. Generally, the higher the resolution the better.

what is BETTER though? thats what you have to think about. its like when you take a computer and put it at max resolution. depending on what kind of computer, monitor, whatever, everything is going to be really small.

Small on a small screen isnt always a good thing. thats why i say we'll see how it goes.

just a thought really. Im sure the picture will look just as good as everything else tho

I totally understand. It's all based on matter of opinion and what fits you the best really. What you describe goes both ways. You get Android folks who say Android is the best and you get the same for Apple devices. Just something we have to live with. Me being on both sides of the fence try to stay neutral but when I see something really good, I'll speak up no matter who makes it.

Exactly

basically my point was KNOW WHAT YOU'RE BUYING DAMNIT!!!

lol

so many ppl just buy $hit and have no idea why other than it looks pretty or in this case because steve says its awesome. Unconscious just bug the crap out of me and IMO don't even deserve an opinion because its not based on anything to begin with. (that part is me being a jerk and hating people) lol

The one and only thing that made me decide on the iPhone 4 and HTC EVO was the carrier. I was hoping that they would announce an iPhone on any other carrier other than AT&T. As a previous iPhone 3G owner I'll never go back to the horrible dropped calls. And now that I think about it even more I'm glad I'm sticking with the HTC EVO 4G becaue to be honest with you the iPhone isn't bringing much more (if anything) to the table over the EVO. Some may argue the screen resolution but i'll squash that with insufficient screen real estate. I was testing out the EVO at the Santa Monica Sprint store and even on 3G this thing was wicked FAST. I can only imagine when the 4G rolls out this summer. While most of my friends are stuck on AT&T's crappy network I'll be flying high on 4G.

What are you talking about? Nothing will be 'smaller'. Go take a look at the hands on. (read their comments too; according to those that have used it, NOTHING else compares)

I just got out from AT$T for my evo... and i had OK service.. a lot of dropped calls.. But i am saving $100 a MONTH by moving to sprint...

that means the TRUE cost of the iPhone for me would have been $1499!!!!! and thats if i only kept it for a year!!! lol... And... Really. it does NOTHING the evo doesnt (or wont when Froyo hits us)...

I really cant stand Steve Jobs either... or iTunes... really... the whole package just makes me want to vomit. and oh look.. their video chat lets you speak to other pretentious iPhone users so you can see each other when you are talking about your iPhones... lol...

And lets not forget the revolutionary new feature of user customizable backgrounds.... WOOOOOWWWWWWWYYYYYYYY... its getting crazy now... Go apple GO...

BLEHH.. :p

Plus "Android is for porn" and a man needs his porn. ;)

in all honesty i love my evo the most because (1)I'm a man with large hands and texting/typing on the 3.5 and smaller screens lends to too many mistakes. EVO size? Perfect. and (2)I cannot say enough for being able to do what I want, when I want, how much I want with my EVO. EVO is "simply Evo-thing I want in a phone. And for the extra $100 I'll buy myself a 32gb micro sd, another battery, and a pair of glasses so I can magnify my 4.3.

iPhone 4 is good. I think the Evo is a bit better.

5mp camera on iPhone 4. 8mp on Evo
VGA Resolution on front camera for iPhone. 1.3mp for Evo.
Finally Flash for Camera on iPhone. Dual Flash for Evo.
Same size of 3.5" screen on iPhone. 4.3" on Evo
Exchangeable battery on Evo. Stuck with one battery on iPhone.
Openness on Evo. Closed on iPhone.
Video Chat already on Evo through network and wifi. Video chat only on wifi and two weeks from now on iPhone, using only one app. No choices. Very limited.
Android already able to do much of what is "new" for iPhone iOS 4.
Evo is on Sprint. iPhone on ATT.
Mobile hotspot on Evo. Nothing like it on iPhone 4.
Tethering on Evo. Not on iPhone.

The rest of the special stuff, both phones do. Like 720p recording. You will pay less for the monthly plans for the Evo.

I think the choice is clear.
