how do i get my contacts out of broken i phone

have i phone 4 dropped it,tiny crack on screen and its dead.not buying another one!!
have been told that contacts not on sim but should be in cloud!?. Have logged on to
apple i cloud but none there,any ideas where they or how i get them back

If u performed any backups, as stated they'll be on your I cloud. U can go to icloud.com & everything will be there.

I had a similar problem last week. After a night my iPhone was turned off. The battery was not empty.
