I have been looking for a solution to have my G S4 switch and stay on 2G when connected to WiFi, then automatically switch back to LTE when I am not connected to WiFi.

Reason is because my house has poor LTE strength 1-2 bars, while on 2G I get 4-5.

I have seen a couple solutions but they require custom software. Is there something available that doesn't? It seems that the capability is there as Juice Defender is able to toggle network mode.

I believe automatic switching of mobile network requires you to root the device. Once rooted I think "tasker" can do what you want.

As far as Juice defender. If it's running on android after ICS, it can only disable data completely. The ability to switch network services is no longer available because android has locked that permission out past ICS. I have it running on my S3 and Note 10.1 with Jellybean. I also have it on my Droid X running ICS(and the network switch is still available).
