Turn off data

Hi, is there a way that I can configure my jelly bean device (android 4.1.2, GT Note 2) to turn off data when it locks.

The power runs out very quickly even when the device is locked. I don't want my apps sucking my battery life when my phone is locked.

There is probably an app, but won't you miss emails and such?

I don't want to be notified of emails, news stories, tweets, or anything when my phone is locked. Just calls and texts. All of those things can update when I unlock.

It seems like this should save a lot of battery, but maybe I am wrong.

Not really. Wifi shut off... yes. Data, not so much. In fact, your apps may constantly try to sync because they can't make a connection.

Just go into specific apps and turn off automatic sync

And then spend some time figuring out what REALLY is eating up your battery.
