To those of you who are using this feature on your Moto X: once set up, does Google Now need to be always enabled for it to work?

I enabled Google Now on my Moto X out of the box, BUT I do not think you would need Google Now enabled to use touchless control. Touchless control uses Google Voice Search. While voice search and Google Now are both built into the search app, they are different features. If I were you I'd repost this in the Moto X forum though, as you'll be more likely to get more responses and maybe someone who hasn't enabled Google Now will chime in.
