I ask here in the Android 4.4 KitKat because i think the devices with those OS Version should have much more power than my Samsung S2 Galaxy.

I have tested, simple shaders with my Samsung S2. And its useless. It is only stucking and frame drops and graphic problems.

So i have no clue if shaders are something that is not working on todays smartphones. Damn, i dont know how to ask.

Maybe i ask like this.

Is shader coding possible with Smartphones of today ? How is the performance ?
Have smartphones of today a GPU (i think my Samsung Galaxy S2 is computing everything over the CPU) ?
Is there something to find about shader performance of smartphones ?
Has an average smartphone of today enough power to compute simple post shaders ?

Maybe i should buy a new smartphone anyway.... than i can test it.

Sure, modern games like Asphalt 8, Modern Combat 5 or Smash Hit use a lot of shader effects. And I believe that there are some photo manipulation apps that use the GPU for image post processing.

Absolutely. Try Monjori Shader Benchmark, it will give you a rough idea about the GPU's performance:

I tested it on both Nexus 7 tablets and if I recall correctly it runs at 14 fps on the old Nexus 7 (1200x800, Tegra 3) and at 62 fps on the new one (1920x1200, Snapdragon 600) .

There are some beautiful demoscene productions as well that push mobile GPUs to their limits:

And here is a tool for coding shaders on the fly (it's a bit outdated):
