Brightness Slider Broken?

Does anyone also find the brightness slider in Lollipop HARD to control? It used to be so easy, now it takes a few seconds to start sliding after I touch it. I expect it to function immediately, instantaneously.
Is Google serious?

Try this: press the handle and instantaneously drag to the desired level of brightness. Can you? The handle won't follow your finger, right?
We can only click at some point before and after the handle! Only then the handle will come after your finger!

Woa wait, I just tried again and it works! Weird! Because dozens of times before I couldn't do it.
