Is it possible to circumvent the new 'protecting fingerprints by password' of Marshmallow?

Hey there,
I'm in a little pickle. I updated my Note5 to Marshmallow last week. It required me to set a new password to protect my fingerprints after restart and I set one, but did so without paying attention obviously. Dumb mistake I know. I actually restart my phone rarely, but I ran out of juice on the WE so now I'm stuck on the lock screen with no earthly idea what pw I set. I went for a fingerprint reader because I'm bad with pws, so this one caught me by surprise.

Any help or do I have to factory reset the phone?
