Sudden hike in data usage

I have the LG V20 on the Sprint network. I just did the Oreo update today. Our plan cycle just restarted on July 28th and my boyfriend texted me today to let me know that I've used like 3.5 gigs of or data and although we don't get charged for going over it's frustrating. I obviously did the update while on WiFi and not mobile data. Could this update have caused a sudden increase in my data usage!? Thank you in advance!

Go to your settings, data usage, and see what used it.

It says the highest usage is Android OS which I know is operating system but I was connected to WiFi all day yesterday until I left for work and the update was done an hour before I left the wifi connection

It shows 1935MB used for the Android OS

I think you're looking at the system memory.
Open Settings, select Connections, Select Data Usage,
then select Mobile Data Usage.
Post a screenshot of that.

Your Android OS is soooo high. Sure you did the update on wifi? Either way, clear your cache partition and reboot.

Yes I definitely did it on WiFi!! I'm not the brightest when it comes to technology but I do know not to do any updates on data. This morning I did go through every single one of my apps one by one and restrict background data usage on ALL of them. The weird thing is that the very night before I did the update (so 2 nights ago) I wasn't on WiFi cuz I wasn't home and my data status showed I had almost a full 4G connection but stopped working completely for like 4 hours none of my apps that require data would work or load anything at all. But my boyfriend's data was completely fine and we're on a plan together. Do you think that my data not working could have caused my apps to use more data because they were trying to run/connect to data even though I wasn't using them? Anyhow thank you for your help! It is much appreciated!!
