Welcome to Android Central! What happens when you try to open the Camera app? Do you get an error message, or does it open but there's nothing in the viewfinder?

I'm not the original poster but I'm having the exact same issue (LG G Stylo bought from Cricket as well). I signed up to ask the same question but since this is here I hope it's ok to chime in.

With mine I will launch the camera app and the screen is just black. No error message. However when I try to launch the camera in Instagram it will be black and say "cannot connect to camera," or something like that.

I read somewhere about doing a force stop, and then clearing the data, which worked one time but then when my screen blacked out again (within a 24 hour period) that fix didn't work the second time. Also read to hold the volume down button, which didn't work either.

Please help! I just bought this phone and am so bummed about this. Aside from the camera I really do like it, though.

Welcome to Android Central! Try booting into Safe Mode, which temporarily disables all 3rd party apps. https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-21843

If the problem disappears in Safe Mode, then something you installed is causing the problem. You may have to uninstall apps one by one until the problem disappears. If the problem persists in Safe Mode, then it's more likely to be a hardware or firmware problem.
