downloads from app store

I just downloaded some apps to my phone and tablet. I notice that the apps installed directly to my phone, but not the tablet. I had to go into My App Store from my tablet to get them. Is this normal for those of you who have a phone and tablet? Does it always go to phone only? Thanks
