got an update today however i was not able to install. MY device is rooted, when the installed started i received an error msg. Is there a manual install?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you should be accepting OTA if you are rooted.

As long as TWRP or CWR have not been installed I think you are ok. I a custom recovery is installed you might find yourself in a boot loop you don't like.

Do you have an old SIM in the phone. When the first update on the phone came out 9the same week the phone came out) there was a few of us that could not get the update because we used old SIM cards. But once new ones where put in the update downloaded without a problem.
Just got the update too. At first I thought it was the big one cause it took so long, but no such luck.
