LG G2: Trouble downloading MMS messages

Most of the time MMS messages won't download to my device. It says it's downloading, but the gray circle never stops spinning and the message never appears. How can I fix this?

Google Play Store, search TEXTRA SMS. The best sms app for Android phones.

I agree with textra for SMS; I used Handcent and SMS Pro for a bit, and both had issues with sms/group messaging. They were both also very quirky and didn't always function properly. One once feature Handcent has is that a window will pop up so you can reply with switching apps; unfortunately, group messaging did not work and all replies were separate conversations.

I have the same problem using Hangouts and retrieving MMS messages, but only on Wifi. Very odd.

do you have your data on? you need your data to be on in order for it to be downloaded. Dont worry it doesnt count towards ur data count

Bump, anyone else have any advice for this? I tried Textra but didn't really care for it after awhile. I'd rather use the stock messaging app.
