Not Getting Text notification

So after texting, if the screen goes black and I put my phone in my pocket, the phone stops vibrating/ringing upon receiving a text.
anybody else having this issue.

I know the "Messaging" app is open but the screen is black and all other phones I've had would notify me in that state.

I've been having the same issue with mine still haven't found a solution other than to use hangouts as my SMS app

I had the same issue with my Verizon Note 3. If I made sure to back out of the app then I would get the notification but anytime I left it open I would miss it. Not sure what a solution would be though, sorry.
