It's the carrier sending the caller ID (the carrier of the person calling you) that adds the +1, meaning that the call is coming from a North American (US or Canada) phone. Nothing you can do until some people (at some carriers) find a clue. Or maybe a few clues - right now, with a few of them, 10 new clues would make them totally clueless.

Still, the G3/Android is supposed to be smart enough to be country-aware, so that even though you may not have +1 stored in your contacts as part of the number, that it should recognize the +1 as the country code. That said, for the life of me, I cannot find where to change this (I thought I could, at least in older versions of Android). Is the G3 a north american version or another version (different carrier/country) used in north america?
