Hi guys, I'm not a regular poster, but as part of the LG G4 campaign, I've been given a handset to try for the next few weeks. I'd like to offer my experiences with the phone to everyone, and also report on how I feel about it over time.

I'm coming from a very clean Android experience - I have a Nexus 5 and Nexus 7, as I'm generally pretty anti-bloatwear or poor UI. That being said, I thought the LG G4 was quite an interesting looking phone, as the Nexus 5 was based on the previous 'G' models (and the fact that I was extremely disappointed what Google did with the Nexus 6 with Motorola).

I'll update this top post with daily comments or points, and maybe photos.

Day 1 - London - Received my UPS package at home
- Immediately fell in love with the front of the phone due to the similarities to the Nexus 6. I am a huge fan of LG's screens.
- Not really convinced by the button placements under the camera. I find it weird to not have buttons on the side of the phone.
- The camera is pretty goddamn impressive. Fast shutter and sharp photos out of the box in auto mode. I noticed that this phone shoots very vivid photos - a bit like the Samsung Galaxy phones.
- The phone has a very nice weight to it - not that much difference from the Nexus 5.
- Removable battery and SD card slot = immediate fist pump.
- The software seems to be a mix of stock Lollipop with LG's own - which is actually pretty good. You can get it to look and act very close to stock Android..... I do however really miss Google Now.

Day 2 - Milan - Took the phone with me around Milan during Expo
- Camera continues to impress - tried more indoor photos. See here:
- Left the house at around 9:30am at 100% battery. At around 1pm I was at around 47% after pretty heavy social media usage.
- Discovered the double-tap screen to wake feature, which is sweet. However I still wish there were side buttons.
- Noticed that the screen adjusts its own contrast when outdoors in the sun - amazing feature as my Nexus 5 and work iPhone 5S are almost unviewable.
- Received a few phone calls during the day - the vibrate is actually at a pretty good level. My Nexus 5 was great at missing calls.
- Annoyance: The swipe down quick menu is too cluttered. I think the stock Lollipop UI is far more usable and convenient.
- Annoyance: A bit of choppiness when using Google Chrome. It was a smoother experience on the Nexus 5 when scrolling up or down.

Annoying clustered quick menu, as per my note in Day 1.

Hello there...please give us some more real battery reviews as well as some possible lagging problems. What about the size of the phone? Is it manageable?

No Google Now? I use that daily on my current phone. Is that because it's a UK version? Can you explain further, THX

Yep! I too am a current Moto X user as well. Looking for a change, but may wait a tad longer to see what's in store for the Moto X (2015). I really want to like the G4 though.

To clarify, you can use the Google Now launcher or Google Now through the Google widget. I am using LG's own OS which does not have swipe left for Google Now like on Stock.

It's only a bit bigger than the Nexus 5, which is fine for me as I wear tight jeans 😀

^^^Be careful! That G4 is a big phone with a lot of screen area....don't bend it! :)

Can't you swipe up from the home button to access Google Now?

Trying out some indoor shots.

Battery update: Unplugged phone at 9am. Used 3/4G most of the day, I'm now at 33% at 2:50pm. See below.

Battery seems pretty disappointing based on your results

It takes time for the OS to "settle in."
My guess - searching for signal is draining the battery. Also I'd like to see what the page further down...which components are using what % of battery.

The image quality is pretty amazing, especially the corner sharpness. Light is good so not the most stringent test. But looking in the shadows - at this medium resolution looks Ok and corner sharpness looks excellent. I think I'll be leaving my DSLR at home more often!
